Volta Trucks, one of the leading full-electric commercial vehicle manufacturer and services providers, has confirmed that the first fleet of Volta Zero vehicles shall be manufactured in Steyr, Austria, by Steyr Automotive, formerly known as MAN Truck and Bus, Austria.
The announcement was a result of a competitive tender process that had some potential suppliers from Europe.
Steyr was appointed based on their commercial vehicle manufacturing experience as well as existing manufacturing setup.

This will help Volta Trucks to start production in 2022 after customer trials of pilot fleet vehicles that will begin mid-next year.
The partnership with Steyr Automotives will provide Volta Trucks with an experience of more than 100 years of manufacturing large commercial vehicles.

The contract will also end up creating almost 500 jobs in the region. The Chief Technology Officer of Volta Trucks, Kjell Waloen confirming the announcement said that the partnership with Steyr will mark a significant milestone for Volta Trucks, as their team has a demonstrable capability of manufacturing Volta Zero with immense premium truck building expertise and experience.
Siegfried Wolf, Board Chairman, Steyr Automotive said that they are very pleased and excited that Volta Trucks selected them for Volta Zero and that they are looking for a long-lasting and successful partnership with them.
