PGT Trucking Leases 100 Nikola Tre Heavy-Duty Fuel Cell Electric Trucks

Flatbed carrier, PGT Trucking based out of Pennsylvania, has announced that it intends to lease 100 Nikola Tre heavy-duty fuel cell electric vehicles as a result of a satisfactory conclusion of a demonstration program.

The order of the lease will include the heavy-duty trucks, their scheduled maintenance, and also hydrogen fueling solutions.

The scheduled delivery of the trucks to PGT will commence in 2023. The production of the trucks will be taken care of by Nikola’s Coolidge, Arizona facility.

The trucks are designed specifically for longer or continuous metro–regional applications and have a range of up to 500 miles.

These trucks will become a part of PGT’s freight hauling fleet, which is mostly involved in providing services to building materials, machinery, oil and gas, raw materials, aluminum, and the automotive industry.

According to Gregg Troian, President, PGT Trucking, the partnership allows them to offer progressive solutions to their customers while also helps them in reducing their carbon footprint and thereby aligns with their sustainability initiatives.

He adds that the sustainable measures arising out of the partnership will help improve safety, as well as enhance economic efficiency to a significant extent.
