It will further have a decreased impact on the engines, reducing its maintenance cost. The Idle Free eAPU, according to him, will add to improving the driver’s comfort. Moreover, due to its high-performing electric cooling capacity, it is less noisy as compared to diesel-powered APUs.

The Idle Free eAPU is installed at the company’s Lehigh Valley Operations in Pennsylvania. It is the same facility where all Mack Class 8 trucks for exports and North America are assembled.

The Idle Free eAPU is expected to be available for ordering by the second quarter of 2022.
