Locomation, the autonomous truck company, has announced that it will be collaborating with risk solution firm, Aon to develop a risk management plan.
This comes in the wake of the development in the field of autonomous freight transport technology as well as a back-end platform for commercial deployment for trucking companies and shippers.
Aon will be working with insurance carriers and Locomation to assess the risk in autonomous technology and align them with the best practices followed in the insurance industry.
According to Cetin Mericli, who is the CEO and Co-founder of Locomation, Aon’s experience will surely go on to enhance their strategic and corporate development plan and will also highlight their approach’s benefit to the insurance community, shippers, truck drivers, and trucking companies.
This collaboration will also ensure one of the long-term objectives of Locomation, which is reducing the operating cost of the customers by way of lower insurance rates for shippers, truck manufacturers, and other stakeholders.
Michael Stankard, who is the Managing Director of Aon’s automotive practice, says that they are pleased to collaborate with Locomation in understanding how this technology functions in real-time.
He is of an opinion that autonomy is going to be a part of the future of the trucking industry, and human-guided efforts present the potential to eliminate risk and give way to new opportunities.
