Shri Nitin Gadkari, who is the Indian Union Road Transport and Highways Minister, has confirmed that his ministry is in discussion with a foreign firm to construct what will be called an electric highway from Delhi to Jaipur.
The minister said that electric railway engines, trucks, and buses will be powered by electricity and that is his dream to build an electric highway.
He resolves to end the dependence on petrol and diesel in the country. The statement was made at Dausa in Rajasthan by the minister while reviewing the progress of the expressway that connects Delhi to Mumbai.
While the electric highway is a proposed project, as per Gadkari, one foreign company has been approached for it.
Shri Nitin Gadkari has done phenomenal work since the time he has taken charge of the transport and highway ministry.
The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which is being built will reduce the commute time by half, bringing it down to almost 12 hours, between the national capital and the financial capital of the country.
It will be an eight-lane expressway covering the states of Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, besides Delhi and Maharashtra.
