BYD, which is an electric vehicle manufacturer, and Levo Mobility, a joint venture of Nuvve Holding Corp. and Evolve Transition Infrastructure have announced a partnership to integrate vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology of Nuvve’s with a mix of BYD battery electric vehicles (BEVs).
There is a plan in place for the joint deployment of up to 5,000 BEVs over a period of 5 years.
BYD Motors President Stella Li in a statement said that the partnership leverages BYD as well as Nuvve Technologies and will also provide access to Stonepeak’s Financing, which will, in turn, lower the cost of medium and heavy-duty battery vehicle adoption of all kinds of fleet including last-mile delivery, mass transit, etc.
Levo intends to purchase up to 5,000 medium- and heavy-duty V2G-enabled BEVs over five years through a partnership with BYD that will include yard tractors, drayage and refuse trucks, last-mile delivery vehicles, and school buses.
Gregory Poilasne, Chairman and CEO of Nuvve said by integrating the V2G platform with a variety of truck fleets, they will be able to introduce these vehicles in a more sustainable and intelligent way to the grid.
