The Right to Repair debate continues across the US and the Auto Care Association is indeed fighting hard for the right to repair vehicles in all categories including heavy-duty trucks.
To get that robust support, the Auto care Association is seeking the help of the trucking industry stakeholders to ask the members of Congress to enact the Right To Repair legislation that would include the repair industry concerning commercial vehicles as well.
One of the Auto Care officials says that the Right to Repair is one of the most pressing issues that the industry deals with today, and it is time a stand must be taken.
The reason why Right to Repair legislation is significant for the trucking industry is that the flow of goods completely relies on trucks repair and maintenance by the trucking companies, repair shops, and independent truck technicians.
The technicians need access to the truck’s data to perform regular safety inspections. Notably, delays in repairs would lead to a slow down in commerce.
Besides, the aftermarket parts and service help in keeping the trucks repair affordable, which is of utmost importance for long haul operations.
Since the association looks to call on Congress, as a part of its campaign, it has developed a form that automatically generates a letter to the lawmaker of that particular district seeking support to the right to repair commercial vehicles.
