As per Delhi Mayor Mukesh Suryan, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation has plans to take steps to cancel the registration of commercial vehicles which are plying without a radio frequency identification-RFID tag and entering Delhi limits.
Notably, the corporation, which is the nodal agency implementing the RFID system at the toll plazas in Delhi has devised technology across 124 toll lots.
The RFID tag is placed on the windshield of the vehicles, and each time it passes the toll section, the money gets deducted automatically.
As per Suryan, the vehicles without the tags or even insufficient recharge will not be allowed to enter the Delhi limits.
He adds that enforcement teams have already been put in place for regular, non-stop inspection.
The teams have been deployed to take strict action against vehicles that do not have an RFID tag pasted.
The mayor has confirmed that with this process, it will be ensured that the vehicles can enter the city only by paying toll tax and environment compensation charge and that too in a cashless mode.
